White tail deer hunting in eastern North Carolina is as
good as it gets. At Woodstock, deer are fed year round and have access to
plenty of natural feeding fields. QDM programs
have been in place for over four years. Deer stands have been strategically
placed throughout the four hunting venues and are positioned to maximize your
hunting experience. The land at Woodstock has been hunted sparingly over
the past 100 years, but often enough to identify the very best locations for
large bucks. All hunting locations are corned weekly in addition to the
natural wheat, grain, and soybean crops which occupy mu ch of the clear cut
areas. Most of the deer stands are enclosed to provide concealment from
the deer and a cozy and comfortable refuge from the natural elements.
Morning deer hunts will usually begin an hour before day break and last one
to two hours after sunup. Afternoon deer hunts will usually begin about
three hours before sunset, and hunters will be picked up right around dark.
Hunters are limited to two bucks per day while there is no limit to the
number of does taken. Button bucks are not allowed to be taken
as Woodstock continually strives to improve its already exceptional buck-to-doe
ratio. The minimum rack
requirement for a buck is a 14 inch outside spread.
Because of the tremendous population of deer in Halifax and surrounding
counties, our lodge makes an ideal setting for the young hunter. We
encourage fathers and their sons (daughters too!), to hunt our terrain together.
At Woodstock we offer greatly reduced rates for the
young hunter!
All North Carolina wildlife rules and regulations apply to deer
